By LDAP-query, the ixi-UMS Mail Server Connector delivers incoming messages or for example checks the sending permission with outgoing messages. The query is executed with every incoming and outgoing message. For this feature, only "read" access to the data base is required and can also be executed via the "Global Catalog".

If the users shall make use of the website for the ixi-UMS User Preference, the account entered for the LDAP-access must have "write permission" in the LDAP-data base. If necessarily a different Port can be entered .
