estos MetaDirectory writes extensive log information for possible troubleshooting and troubleshooting. The entries in the log file are divided into the following categories:

  • Informational Notices
  • Warnings
  • Errors
  • Debug Information

Here you can specify which information to log and in which directory the log files should be stored. Log files are usually deleted at the turn of the day if they are not actively archived.

You can have errors automatically delivered via the SMTP server stored in E-Mail. This way, you'll always be notified immediately if you're having problems deploying or replicating the data. Replicators write their own log files for each replication operation. These are deleted at the turn of the day, just like the estos MetaDirectory log. You can prevent the replicators from writing their own event logs.

In parallel with the event log of the estos MetaDirectory, you can also leave errors and warnings in the Windows Event Log.

Many estos MetaDirectory Administrator dialogs can be hidden upon request, if you only want to receive notes or warning notices.

Note: Deploying and deleting the log files and modifying or opening the log directory can only be performed if the administrator is connected to the local MetaDirectory.
Change the log settings to Log Everything only if there are problems. The volume of log data grows very quickly, especially during replication operations.
Configure e-mail delivery and enable the "Send errors by e-mail to administrator" option to be notified immediately of any errors.
