A "Text to Speech Engine" converts text into audio files. The "TTS" (Text-to-Speech) function is required: ·to send text messages which are read out to the called subscriber. ·to listen to e-mails and faxes (OCR is required) on the phone above the ixi-UMS Voice-Mail Server. ·to create the announcements in the browser-based ixi-UMS Voice-Mailbox Configuration
Under "Activate TTS-dependet functionality" the basic availability of the functions is set: ·Read aloud e-mails (valid for all users) ·Creating own announcements in the ixi-UMS Voice-Mailbox Configuration (assignment of rights in the ixi-UMS Portal Server) · If and for which interface (SAPI5, MS Speech Platform) a speaker is available is displayed behind the selection. After selecting the interface, the desired speaker / TTS engine can be selected.
Depending on the operating system and the language of the operating system, Microsoft already provides/installs TTS engine. With the ixi-UMS Kernel TTS-Engines from Microsoft in different languages for the Microsoft Speech Platform are delivered and can be installed.
