User Management

One of the key features of the ixi-UMS Voice-Mail Server is its integrated user management. This means that user settings for ixi-UMS Voice-mailbox can be made directly in the LDAP server of your messaging system if your are running one of the following systems:

·	MS Exchange

·	IBM Domino

Any other system must meet the following requirements:

·	User management is LDAP based

·	It must be possible to gain read/write access to the LDAP database

·	There must be a per user attribute which can be used to store ixi-UMS Voice-mailbox User settings.

·	If there is no such attribute, the system must support an extension of the schema mechanism to add an appropriate attribute.

·	IMAP login data must be obtainable via one or more LDAP attributes. In Exchange, for example, the samAccountName attribute contains the IMAP user name.

If one or more of these requirements are not fulfilled, it is recommended that you use the ixi-Framework OpenLDAP Server for user management.

Note:

In order that the user can carry out changes in his profile settings via the phone, a write access to the LDAP list is necessary. If this cannot be guaranteed, the profile data can be stored locally on the server.
