Remote Desktop Mode

If the estos ProCall client can be set up for "Remote Desktop Mode". In this mode, a ProCall client without connected devices controls another estos ProCall client to which headset and/or a camera are connected.
In a Remote Desktop session with the estos ProCall client installed on the remote computer (e.g. on a Terminal Server), you can then control the calls in the locally installed estos ProCall client to which your Headset is also connected.

The telephony functions supported by Softphone and AudioChat can be used in full. The call control functions on the headset (HID buttons) can be used as usual.

You have to initiate or accept screen sharing calls on the local estos ProCall client. VideoChats can only be initiated on the local estos ProCall client. As long as the controlling estos ProCall client ("Execute remote control" operating mode) is active, VideoChats are accepted as AudioChat.
The following procedures have been defined for this purpose:
  • When there is an incoming VideoChat, a call appears on the controlling remote client, which can only be accepted via audio.

  • An outgoing VideoChat can only be started on the locally installed estos ProCall

  • Screen sharing can only be accepted or started on the locally installed estos ProCall

Two usage scenarios are considered:

The ProCall client runs in a virtualized environment (e.g., terminal server) and an office computer

A ProCall client runs in a virtual environment (e.g., on a terminal server without audio devices) and is configured to "Run remotely." This client controls a ProCall client on the workstation, to which a headset and, if applicable, a camera are connected, and which is configured to "Allow remote control." It is possible for the client in the virtual environment to be operated alternately from the home office or the office computer, for example, via Windows® Remote Desktop.
This means that the user can make softphone calls from within the virtual environment using the locally connected headset of their work computer or home office computer.

The ProCall client runs on an office computer and a home office computer.

A ProCall client is installed on the office computer in "Execute remote control" mode (with office headset and, if applicable, camera). When the user is working on-site in the office, they use the office computer and the connected headset and, if applicable, the camera as usual. When a user switches to working from home and connects to their office computer via Windows® RDP, for example, the ProCall client on the office computer controls the ProCall client on the home computer, which is configured to "allow remote control" and has a headset connected. The headset on the office computer is automatically deactivated in the process.
This means the user can keep their work computer running in the office while switching to their home office, where another PC is located. If they open, for example, a Windows® RDP connection from there to work with their usual applications from the work computer, they can also make softphone calls on the work computer while using their headset in the home office.
